Sean's FLM 2007 Training Diary wk8

Week 8 (19/2/07 – 25/2/07) [Mileage for the week = 35]

Mon (19/2)

Paid big time for my highest mileage week, best x-country performance and longest Sunday run all being in the same week.

I woke up like Jake the Peg as I couldn’t stretch my left leg fully when I walked. My hamstring was sore, tender and tight so dragging my case to the train station was fun.

Hobbled around all day but then YEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS! When I re-checked my schedule today was the start of a recovery week. Woohoooo!

So a big REST ZERO today.

Phew!

Tue (20/2)

Ummm awards evening on Friday. Not sure I will get a longish run in on Firday so going to have to do some juggling around. Back on the horse today but still a little tight. Have got some more movement back so I did an easy session in the gym. 30min steady, 2miles bike then a lot lot lot lot of stretching.

Seems to have done the trick. Just needed to get the muscle nice and warm to work out the stiffness hopefully I will be ok for the rest of the week.

Wed (21/2)

I’ve been planning and re-planning this week ever since Monday. I should throw in a race and a decent long run but with Fridays awards night the long run will have to be on Sunday morning…………….I think I will class Saturday as the race which leaves me with cramming in two speedier sessions before then. So Wed and Thursday. Great! Will three hard sessions in four days.

I did the easier one of the three tonight but could I control myself and have a nice 3mile plod at 6min mile pace. Oh no. I got to two miles in 12 mins and then started to ramp up the speed on the treadmill. Came in at 17:25 tweaking it all the way. Felt good though so I then did 3miles hard on the bike followed by some gym work.

Gym work!! Good god I’ve become an adrenaline junkie.

Thur (22/2)

Club run tonight.

It was a really good session. I clocked it at 1.8 m warm up. Then 12 hill climbs up Beech road (~1.04), then I went for 1.5 m warm down.

Fri (23/2)

Oooo ow ow ow ow! My pecs are sore from the gym work and there was I thinking it was easy. I could hardly swing my arms. Feeling very battered from the past 3 days so I went for a 4 mile plod.

Sat (24/2)

The awards night last night was all a bit bizarre. Seemed to be very inconsistent with previous years criteria and choices so left me feeling  bit miffed. I went home and did a lot of stretching and some core stability exercises. Then I only got 3 hours kip because of a sore throat.

XCountry training was hard. I could feel the energy sapping from my legs as we climbed in the 400m intervals with continuous running for 30 min.

I saw Andy K at footy training and agreed to meet him and Dean for tomorrows run at 7. I must be barking.

More core stability work tonight.

Sun (25/2)

Typical endurance run this morning.

1st 50 min “Why am I doing this, nothings loose, theres this niggle and that niggle”

2nd 30 min “Starting to loosen up. Feeling good. Some flow coming on”

11.8 m.

Now I have a dilemma. Do I run with these guys from now on?
