Dear All,
Our resident distance expert, Joe Lewis, will be taking track sessions on a bi-weekly basis at the University of Birmingham track, beginning next Monday (14th April).
The sessions are open to any male or female member wishing to improve their leg speed. The sessions will take the form of 'intervals' - usually a set number of efforts over a specific distance with a set recovery (i.e. 10 X 400 mts; 6 X 600 mts. etc.).
We'll meet at the start on the track. You need to bring £3 per person (for use of the track) and suitable training shoes. Spikes - at this stage - are not advisable, but road racing 'flats' are good. On hand to assist will be our legendary sub-4 minute miler, Steve James. Also, two less-legendary former track runners, myself and Rob Andrew, will also be around to assist with questions etc.
Next week's session will be a 'fluffy' introductory one, to get used to running on a different surface. After that, they will increase in intensity, especially if Deano has anything to do with it!
Look forward to seeing you there, Jon
