Apologies for the delay:
Wincle Trout Run 30.05.2009 - this is one of those runs that I have always meant to do and never got round to. That changed this year, and I am so pleased that I did it. What a great day out.
The run is held at a small hamlet called Wincle which is about 4 miles from Macclesfield. It is part of the annual fete - so there is lots to do for families. After a short loop around the trout farm, we headed off into the fells. There is tough little bank to climb, at which point we overlap with the junior run and get to feel even more inadequate than before - but the juniors are finishing and we are only just beginning! The river crossing is lovely and cool - which was needed on Saturday, but then we go into a very short muddy patch (hardly a bog!) The run goes onwards and upwards through woodland to come out eventually at the highest point on the run - Hanging Rock. After that there is a lovely downhill before coming onto the road back into the village.
Hang on - I've been here before - remember that bank I mentioned earlier, well we finished in exactly the same way as the juniors and it was so hard. The trout that we got at the end was really fresh and enjoyed only a few hours later when we got home. Looking forward to next year already.
