The Timberhonger 10k is named after the road that most of the race is run along. The first 1k is mainly uphill and the course in general is 'undulating'.
I couldn't see any other teal vests there, which is surprising as it's only about a 20 minute drive from the club.
There was quite a good turnout overall and as the start is in the lane itself, this causes a bit of a bottleneck, and it's difficult to pass any slower runners until the race thins out a bit. It was hard work climbing the first 1k, but knowing that we would be running down it about 40 minutes later helped. At the end of the lane, there is a 2k or so loop which we went round twice, there was another two hills on the loop, so doing that bit was a hard slog.
I must get up Cofton Park more often, as I was being passed by a couple of runners on every hill, but on the plus side I was making up ground going downhill and on the flat bits.
The last 1k is really enjoyable, mostly downhill, with the last couple of hundred yards across the grass to the finish, this is where you can give it everything you've got, and I managed to pass several runners on this section.
It's a great little race and very friendly, I've been lucky enough to run it for three out of the last four years.
Had a spot prize of yet another drinks bottle, well you can never have too many, or can you?
