A repeat of Jamie's second place in his first fell race outing looked in doubt for his sophomore outing when the wiry frame of Welsh International, Tim Davies, appeared on the scene. Davies was winner of the 2005 Snowdon Race, and brought with him a gang of useful looking runners to this somewhat lower key event a few miles southwest of Shrewsbury.
As it turned out Jamie had a shout at fifth, but 'jelly legs' on the descent and a fall as he got on the flat meant it wasn't to be and he had to settle for a creditable 8th.
For Helen and I it was a reminder of what hills are like to run on (hard going up, harder going down, windy on the top) after an excessively long absence, instead of a chance to better previous times.
However, the weather was good, and the free chips and sausages most welcome, so our appetite was whetted both for more running, and more greasy food in races to come...
