I was hoping to add a report on the race here but it's funny how running can be full of surprises, teach you a few life lessons and reign in any over optimistic tendencies. I don't remember very much about the race itself as I apparantly collapsed after the finish, spent 40 minutes out cold, and could map the contours of the hospital tent to the finest details, spending the next 4 hours or so there. A very scarey experience. Can't praise the paramedics enough though - I guess you don't realise how great they are until you need them.
I can only add though that from now on I will make it an absolute priority to put all my details on the back of my number (I didn't and couldn't remember anything for quite a while), and be careful in going out too fast. In truth though, i still don't know why it happened - just one of those things ...
